The Engineering Design Process
We will be using the Engineering Design Process throughout the year to solve problems in each of our Science units.
In our Soils, Rocks, & Landforms unit we will use the engineering design process to find a solution to an erosion problem.
In our ENERGY unit, we use the Engineering Design Process and what we know about kinetic energy and the energy of collisions to build safe vehicles.

UNIT 1 - ENERGY
At the end of this unit, students will be able to:
The Energy Information Administration Kids and Energy Ducksters - Physics for Kids Ducksters - Environment (includes information about energy and pollution) What is Energy - The Science Learning Hub |

UNIT 2 = Soil, Rocks, & Landforms
Soil is the building block for our landforms. We examined the make up of soil and saw how landforms develop on earth. We then explored how soil and rock move from place to place through the processes of erosion and deposition to create new landforms.
Our trip to Great Brook Farm State Park gave us a great experience with landforms!

Unit 3 - LIFE SCIENCE
At the end of our Life Science Unit we will be able to construct an argument that animals and plants have internal and external structures that support their survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.
