This book is part historical fiction and part science fiction. I love that mix. The setting is the 1970s so a lot of things are different from the way they are today.
Miranda is a pretty typical kid. She lives in New York with her Mom and she's working out some problems with old friends and making new friends. A series of mysterious notes arrive from someone who seems to know what's going to happen. I won't tell you how but the mystery of the notes is solved by the end in a really cool way.
The book is level W and it jumps around in times sometimes which can be hard to follow, but the chapters are short and the story is interesting so it's worth the effort. It won a Newbury Medal and lots of other prizes too.
I think I'll read more from this author. Check out her books in our classroom library.
